At a special county commission meeting Friday, Paul Baca, (photo at right) was appointed County Assessor to replace the resigning Rick Silva. Silva recommended Baca for the position and what everyone thought would happen, did happen. Baca stepped up to the position where he has worked quietly behind the scenes for years. He will serve out the remainder of Silva's 13 month term. Silva (bottom photo, red shirt) has taken a position in Santa Fe.
