GET OUT AND VOTE

I know. Politics is not fun, and probably, the whole system is broken. But it is what we have right now and if we don't use it as intended by our forefathers, we are part of the problem.

APATHY is apparent. We talk about it, we see it and we spend the next term of our elected officials whining about it. But when the elections roll around again, the number of voters that show up is embarrassing. APATHY becomes a synonym for PATHETIC.

Voting just takes a few minutes. It's not hard.

And sometimes the excuse not to vote is because "there is no one I want to vote for." And sometimes that is not a sometimes, it is an oftentimes. But vote anyway. Sort through a few likes and dislikes and vote for someone who might just surprise you.

You have plenty of opportunities to practice this voting thing this year.

The county is "runneth over" with elections. It started early with school bond elections, moves right to municipal elections in five communities (next Tuesday!) and from there goes to the hospital Mill Levy election, the June primaries, (local, state and national) and then the heat gets turned on for the November BIG ONE.

If you always vote, congratulations. You are doing your part. Even if the outcome isn't what you would have liked to see.

If you don't usually vote, get your hiney down to the polls. If enough of you decide to become part of the process, it might surprise you how the face of things could change. But it won't if you don't play well with others!
